    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    The student will be able to:

    • Understand the importance of money management.
    • Outline money management strategies

    BUDGETING
    AIM: To develop an understanding of developing a plan for sound financial money management

    SAVING ACCOUNTS
    AIM: To develop an understanding of the importance of establishing sound practices for managing personal savings accounts

    INVESTMENTS
    AIM: To develop an understanding of the importance of establishing sound practices for investment management

    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    The student will be able to:

    • Read the stock market page
      1. Differentiate types of investments
      2. Compare and contrast investment strategies
      3. Differentiate of stock exchanges.
      4. Explain the role of the SEC, NYSE, NASNAQ and other securities associations.
      5. Illustrate the importance of investing on a regular basis.
      6. Illustrate the concept of diversification.

    CREDIT MANAGEMENT
    AIM: To develop an understanding of the important strategies needed for credit management.

    TEACHER BACKGROUND
    Credit is a buying method based on a promise to repay through regular payments. Businesses rely on the integrity of the consumer to repay the debt. Credit should be utilized within your finances as part of your own money management. Some find credit easy to obtain but difficult for repayment.

    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    The student will be able to:

    • Analyze requirements for the issuance of credit.
    • Differentiate types of credit accounts.
    • Complete a credit application with 100% accuracy.
    • Should be able to describe the difference between business finance and customer credit.
    • Should be able to solve simple and compound interest problems, and compute discounts, sales tax and credit charges related to consumer purchases.

    AIM: To become familiar with basic consumer awareness issues related to housing and home management

    HOME MANAGEMENT/BUYING A HOUSE
    AIM: What preparation is required to purchase a home and to maintain the condition of the property?

    INSURANCE
    AIM: To identify the apprpriate type of insurance needed for personal needs

    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    The student will be able to:

    • Differentiate forms of insurance.
    • Outline methods for selecting appropriate insurance.
